QuDo Rec baseball video analysis service launches

Qoncept has launched QuDo Rec, a baseball video analysis service that extracts pitching and batting data from footage recorded by two consumer camcorders at a ballpark.

Games can be converted into data even at fields without measurement equipment such as Hawk-Eye or radar guns. The service supports game analysis at regional ballparks, training camps, and away venues, as well as player evaluation, scouting, and ongoing data collection for university teams, independent leagues, and player development.

Record with two consumer cameras, then analyze the footage

Place one camera behind home plate and another on the first-base or third-base side. Precise synchronization between the cameras is unnecessary; recording can be started independently as the game begins.

After recording, load the two videos into the application, calibrate the cameras, and configure the ball detection positions before starting analysis. Processing runs on a MacBook Air or Pro with Apple Silicon.

Analyze recordings at 8× speed in Turbo mode

Turbo mode processes recorded video at 8× speed, taking approximately one eighth of the recording duration to complete analysis. This makes it possible to bring footage back after a game and efficiently obtain pitching and batting data.

Processing time varies depending on the computer and video conditions.

Available pitching and batting data

Pitching data

  • Time and pitch speed
  • Vertical and horizontal movement
  • Plate location: height and lateral position
  • Vertical and horizontal approach angles
  • Release position: height and lateral position
  • Extension

Batting data

  • Exit velocity
  • Launch angle
  • Horizontal batted-ball direction
  • Estimated distance

Spin information, including spin rate, spin axis, and spin efficiency, is planned for a future update.

Export in a Hawk-Eye-compatible CSV format

Analysis results can be exported as Hawk-Eye-compatible CSV files. Pitching data and its corresponding batting data can be recorded on the same row for use with existing analysis and data management workflows. Speed, position, and movement units can be changed from mph, feet, and inches to km/h, meters, and centimeters.
